The Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre (ICNARC) is a health audit and research charity which aims to improve the quality of critical care through the provision of high quality information to those working in critical care. We do this through our fully registered Clinical Trials Unit (supporting a broad range of externally funded research, including randomised controlled trials, observational and methodological studies) and our comparative national clinical audits.
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer who will take responsibility for planning, developing, implementing and maintaining effective data engineering applications processes across ICNARC’s clinical research and audit activities, in order to ensure the quality and integrity of data.
We’re trying to stay ahead of the game, in terms of innovative technology. We want to be the very best in terms of Agile development and delivery of the application products we create around data engineering.
We want your skills, experience and knowledge – across all tiers of application design and development; in particular database and business layers – to do that!

You will be confident in taking the initiative to pick up existing database structures (SQL Server 2008/2014/2017), stored procedures and queries quickly and be able to analyse data structures for our applications. You will have practice thinking critically about these structures and procedures and be able to give positive feedback on possible improvements.
Whilst we’re looking for people with experience of some toolkits and methodologies that are used within Agile, most of all we’re looking for someone with an agile mindset for data engineering. You will need the right mindset to be able to coach and mentor people within teams and the wider organisation, to assist that right, agile mindset within those teams, to help us deliver value early to the organisation and continuously improve.
